Hello All.
It's all getting very close now. Oh yes! I have a start date and it is just around the corner. Just a few jobs to finish up at home then I'll be off.
But first, a lovely relaxing Easter weekend, with all the family and a few friends over for roast lamb with all the trimmings, followed by apple and blackberry crumble, and a walk!
Then..........
On Tuesday afternoon (23rd April) I will drive to Minehead and check out the town, then it is just along the coast to Porlock Weir where I will try to find a suitable place to park the van for the first day of walking, which will be Wednesday. When I have found a good place to park (preferably free and not too far from the coast) I'll head off into the hills to find a nice place to spend the night. This will be the first time that I will have slept in the van since I took possession of it a few weeks ago. Early Wednesday morning I will drive back to the parking place in Porlock and leave the van there. The bus to Minehead leaves from outside The Ship Inn at 7.49. What follows is 40 minutes of severe relaxation, courtesy of First buses of Somerset. I arrive in Minehead at 8.21.
If I have not managed to have breakfast in the van, I will have something delicious in Minehead; this will be enough to sustain me for the start of the walk. Then it is 9 miles along the fields, hills, valleys and woods until I reach Porlock again and the van. Day 1 done.
And that is pretty much what will be happening for the next 2 months, except that the next walk starts where I finished and ends a bit further on. After all what kind of fool would do the same walk every day for fun as in some kind of Groundhog Day nightmare. Not this fool.
I have just mentioned the van a few times and have not previously described it. I will write about the van in later posts but just to boost your appetite for a bit of van fun - here is a photograph.
So, as I say, that will be day one complete.
Now then, what's next????????
Day two.
And, below is a plan of the whole journey which I will not promise to stick to. But one thing I think that I can guarantee is that I will not be finishing earlier. So if you plan to join me for any of the walk, you will need to check from time to time for alterations. You can check both here and on the Facebook page.
Blimey, I exhausted just scrolling to the bottom of the page.
With the help of my very good friend Anna, who is a genius, I have added (she added) an opportunity to get notifications by email when a new blog is posted. We have tested it out and it should work.
I will continue to put warnings of more of these wonderfully inspirational words, on the Facebook page.
In the meantime,
Take it easy.
